ABG General Elections: Momis Leads The Presidential Race

Incumbent President of the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Chief Dr John Momis, is currently leading the race in the presidential count.

Since day one, Momis has already reached the thousands mark.

At the first preference count number one; Incumbent President, Chief Dr John Lawrence Momis is leading the race with 2,351.

Former National Parliamentarian Sam Akoitai has 548 and,

ABG’s First Speaker, Nick Peniai, with 137, Sam Kauona – 134,Ismael Toroama – 133, Justin Pokata Jr – 65, Rueben Siara – 61,Peter Nerau – 24 and Simon Dumarinu – 17.

But, after count four this morning Momis increased his votes, maintaining the lead to 7,414, Toroama from fifth position now trailing behind 1,742, followed by Akoitai and Kaouna.

Bougainville’s Acting Electoral Commissioner, George Manu, is pleased with the behaviour of people during this counting period.
