Alliance Coalition Not Deterred by Government Numbers

The Alliance coalition called a media Conference after the election of the Prime Minister this afternoon.

Member-elect for Aitape Lumi, Patrick Pruaitch, said the Alliance has heard the cry of the people unfortunately it has not mastered the numbers to form Government.

Member-elect for Sinesine Yongumul, Kerenga Kua, said theirs was not a lost cause because the government will have to justify every policy they want pushed through in this parliament because the Opposition will take them to task.

The 46-strong members of the Alliance coalition called a media conference after the Prime Minister-elect left for the Government House to be declared.

It was a bigger Opposition-in-Waiting group than was previously seen in the recent parliaments.

Also present was former Governor for East Sepik Province, and founding father, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.

Mr Pruaitch was first to speak, saying PNG can be proud that the Opposition-in-waiting has some of the best Papua New Guineans on their side. He said they will do their best to address the economic crisis been faced by the country.

Vanimo-Green Member, Belden Namah, told especially the new Members that he wants a show of commitment by members of the Opposition.
Member for Sinesine Yongomugl, Kerenga Kua, was full of confidence.

Leader for Pangu Pati, Sam Basil, said they are looking forward to making positive changes for the betterment of the people of Papua New Guinea.

What happened in parliment on Wednesday (02.08.2017) durinf election of Prime Minister did not maybe go down well with some of us. It maybe good for some in a sense that five or six people the opposition claim were not suppose to be in parliement.
