Annual PM’s Golf Challenge A Success

The annual Prime Minister’s Golf Challenge commenced this morning at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club with Prime Minister Peter O’Neil officially teeing off the event.

Teeing off earlier in the day, the challenge attracted 52 teams from various Corporate and Government entities.

The PNG Olympic Committee will be using the funds raised to assist Team PNG in a number of International events.

Registration for each of the teams taking part was K3, 000 with an expected return of just over K160, 000.

A host of sponsors for the event also showed their support, with prize money up for grabs for the competitors in a number of holes.

The PNG Olympic committee will be using the funds raised to support Team PNG with the Commonwealth Games, as well as the delegation to the Youth Olympics. They are also supporting preparations for Team PNG at the 2015 Pacific Games.

The competition is a one day event with organizers PNGOC who are hopeful that the Lae challenge in two weeks’ time will also produce an attractive financial windfall.
