Biometric system in elections

Election related problems could have been avoided if the Biometric system was used.

This is according to the developers of the Biometric System, currently operating in the country as SkyCo Systems PNG Limited.

The Biometric system is locally developed to suit PNG’s style of Election.

The developers say, they recommended the system before the start of 2012 Elections, however; the Electoral Commission opted not to use the system, saying it was a costly exercise. But the developers say they only quoted K350 million for one day election which they say is much less than the cost of this year’s election.

SkyCo Systems Ltd PNG is open to the government’s invitation to trial out the system on any possible bi-election and the June Council President Election and subsequently the 2017 General Elections and also owns the Biometric system in the long run.
