Business PNG – Episode 1, 2014

Papua New Guinea entered the new year with intermittent power cuts and disruptions. As a result of the unreliable power supply the country is currently facing, some operators are  going out of their way to source out alternative sources of energy.

PNG Biomass based in the Morobe province, is already laying the groundwork of developing a biomass power plant which they hope to have up and running in the next 3 years time. At this stage, PNG Biomass is working with some of the landowners in the Markham valley on the farming of several species of trees that will be used to produce biomass energy. Head of EMTV's Lae Bureau Scott Waide brings you the story.
