It only took 98 years, but Converse has finally created a second iteration of the popular Chuck Taylor, with its All Star II.
That means, your punk rock days of bleeding through the pain of a new pair of Chucks are over. Converse has designed a new Chucks which is more accommodating to an active lifestyle.
“The Chuck II is built for Convers’s creative consumers. It delivers both comfort and breathability for all day, every day needs, to help do more of what you do,” says VP Creative Director Global Footwear, Bryn Cioffi.
The All Star does not replace the Original Chuck Taylor.
Instead of barely-there cushioning, the shoe now includes many features that improve one’s every step. These include a Nike Lunarlon sock liner for foot cushioning and arch support, foam padded collar, and a perforated micro-suede liner for breathability.
“The Chuck Taylor All Star is one of the most legendary and iconic sneakers of all time,” says Jim Calhoun, Converse president and CEO, in a release.

The Chuck Taylor which has touted itself the “world’s” most celebrated sneaker” – debuted in 1917. Since it’s become a staple in many a closet.
The new shoe, which looks very similar to the original, only adds a few small details: a fully embroidered All Star patch and monochrome matte eyelets make for a cleaner, more streamlined approach to beloved shoe.
