CNMI to Send Bodybuilders to Pacific Games

By Skola Sengi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

With the hope of sending a contingent to compete in the Pacific Games, in July, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands will be hosting the Mariana Muscle Building Competition in April.

The competition will be a stepping stone to revive the code which has been inactive on the Island.

This will also be an opportunity to have bodybuilding enthusiasts and veterans, showcase their talent.

The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands plans to send a four-member team to the Pacific Games.

Earlier this month, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands Bodybuilding President, John Davies said that their main focus was to send a team for the Pacific Games and some athletes to PNG.

He also said, that, unlike other traditional sports codes, where an athlete can train for three months and be in peak condition to perform, bodybuilding requires years to train and reach a level at which an athlete can compete.

Veteran Bodybuilding organiser, Dee Clayton will assist with preparations.

Bodybuilding is gaining popularity in PNG and the region as a whole.
