CS Plans for New Facility to Address Overcrowding

The CS Department plans to have a new prison facility in the Morobe Province, to address overcrowding at the Buimo Prison.

CS Commissioner Michael Waipo said they’ve engaged in dialogue with the provincial administration regarding this.

The Buimo Prisons is built for 450 inmates, however; it currently has up to 1,015 prisoners.

This means an additional 510 inmates are being held in the prison.
