Delay in Oro Province Polls

The Election Manager of the Oro Province confirmed to EMTV Online that the polls for the province is deferred to Wednesday 28th of June.

Peter Malaifeope cited the postponing of the polling dates as administrative.

“Funding for the polling teams was signed by the Oro Provincial Treasury just on Friday the 23rd of June,” Mr Malaifeope told EMTV Online in a text message last night.

Polling teams for the two electorates of Sohe and Ijivitari, however, have been preparing for months.

“We are ready, we will only wait for bank clearance on Monday and Tuesday,” Ebano Eduru, Returing Officer for Ijivitari Open said.

Security details in the province will be manned by local Police and Correctional Services officers.
