Western Province Provincial Administrator Dr Modowa Gumoi has been cleared of allegations of corruption withinthe Fly River Provincial Government.
Dr Gumoi was arrested three weeks ago in Port Moresby over allegations of illegally approving funding fromthe OTDF Community Mine Continuation Trust Deed and not fromthe provincial executive council.
Western Province Governor Ati Wobiro clearedthe air surrounding allegations against Dr Gumoi’saying he was wrongly arrested by police on false allegations.
“Before any money was released,the State Solicitor had to make sure that we didthe right thing in every step and once he gavethe green light we started releasing funds,” explains Wobiro.
Governor Wobiro saidthe allegations werethe work of individuals with vested interests who wish to amendthe CMC trust deed sothey can source funds from it.
He added that Dr Gumoi was never served a warrant of arrest bythe police. He said it’showed how those individuals went to great lengths to feedtheir greed.
“All ofthese matters have been pursued administratively as well as in court,” said Wobiro.
Governor Wobiro saidthese issues have become a hindrance to service delivery inthe province.
They have asked for harmony and support in servingthe people of Western Province.
