2018 FIFA World Cup: Count Down to the World Tournament

With exactly 130 days to go before the FIFA World Cup kicks off in Russia, 32 nations across 4 confederations are counting down to this world tournament.

The Tournament being one of the oldest and largest world tournament, astounds the World with class and talent.

The FIFA World Cup was first played in 1930 in Uruguay.

The Hosting duties were given to Uruguay having won Gold medals consecutively in 1924 and 1928.

Being at its infant stage, the initial 13 teams contested upon invite from organizers. Three editions later, in 1942 the World War 2 disrupted the tournaments continuity.

Post war came with its challenges, and 12 years on, the World tournament picked up again.

66 years later, and 15 editions of this event since world war 2, this tournament has gone global with 32 teams contesting this year.

5-time champion Brazil holds the highest number of wins while Germany and Italy have won 4 titles each.

Inaugural Winner Uruguay has two titles to their name, with Argentina sharing this spot.

England, France and Spain made their name in the later years having won a title each.

And as a precursor to this pinnacle of world football, the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour is touring 50 countries at the moment.

It will be here in Papua New Guinea in 10 days’ time, and fans and followers will catch a glimpse of the prize the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will acquire.
