Haus & Home Episode – 8, 2014

In this episode:

On this episode of Haus & Home Chef Veari of Zenag Cooking demonstrates how easy it is to cook up some Basic Zenag Egg Crepes & Lime.

Her response comes after receiving several requests from affected community groups requesting financial assistance to rebuild their homes.

Kouza says Lae District has only budgeted funds for development and not for compensation payments for houses that have been burnt.

Over the last three months, ethnic clashes have been happening in various communities in the city.

During the clashes, many houses were burnt and hundreds of families were left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

Women and children were affected as a result of these clashes, and community leaders wrote several letters to provincial authorities and MPs for support.

However, the Lae MP Loujaya Kouza has taken a stand. She says development money won’t be used for relief assistance for communities who caused the problems.

Kouza further stated that the government’s funding into Lae district is used for development purposes and not for solving problems in communities.

Meanwhile, the Lae District in its five-year development plan has allocated funds for the Biometric Data Registration that is set to roll out in the next five months.

The Lae MP believes that through the registration project, many people who are doing nothing and causing problems in communities would be identified and sent back to their district of origin.
