The people of Olo in North Waghi District, Jiwaka will now be able to access health services at the refurbished local Aid Post.

This comes following the Embassy of Japan providing a grant of K250,000 for the upgrade and installment of health equipment.

The project was funded through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.

Jiwaka Governor, Dr. William Tongamp, and Ambassador of Japan to Papua New Guinea, Morio Matsumoto, joined hands to open the health facility.

Speaking at the opening, Ambassador Matsumoto said the government of Japan hopes to further enhance development in the country.

“We hope to support and commit in promoting social and economic development through basic health infrastructure projects”, said Ambassador Matsumoto.

“The government of Japan will contribute to join hands with the PNG government to improve health sector,” he added.

The government of Japan, to assist infrastructure development in the country, has issued a total of K43 million in grants.

The new look Olo Aid Post was opened last Friday.
