Hunters Face Blackhawks

by Elijah Lavett – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

SP Hunters coach, Michael Marum, expects his team to lift to another level as the PNG side prepares for the all-important Qualifying Final against minor premiers, Townsville Blackhawks, this Saturday at the Jack Manski Oval in Townville.

Marum has reminded his players that while they are the only side to have beaten the Blackhawks twice this season, that record will have little bearing on Saturday’s match.

The Hunters have been carrying the hopes of PNG on their shoulders throughout the season, a type of pressure that they hope will have them well prepared for their finals fixture.

A victory will shoot the Hunters straight into the Grand Final on September 27, but Marum’s main focus has been on making sure that his team is fine-tuned for this week’s match.

The team flew into Port Moresby from Kokopo yesterday before heading to Cairns to Townsville for Saturday’s match, which kicks off at 5pm.
