International Champions Cup: Real Madrid Defeat Manchester City

Friday Night left a disappointed and frustrated City Goal Keeper, Joe Hart, after shipping in four goals that left Manchester City defeated by Real Madrid 4 – 1 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 2015 International Champions Cup.

The 2015 ICC in Australia witnessed 2013 ICC Champions Real Madrid, Manchester City and AS Roma play round robin tournament.

Friday night’saw the last match with a record-breaking sold out crowd for a football match at the MCG of almost 100,000 fans.

Manchester’s frontline fell apart to two of the world’s best forward lines as three of City’s strong centre backs were absent on that match.

With City’s Captain, Vincent Kompany, in England waiting to be a father again, Demichelis had not returned to pre-season training and Mangala falling sick the morning of the match, City’s new additions were no help at all.

With a full strength Madrid side, the range of tricks they displayed left the opposing team almost standing by to admire them instead of defending them.

Madrid’s Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the first half. Ronaldo and Pepe followed through to leave the scoreboard at 3 – 1 lead by the end of first half. City’s Yaya Toure added a consolation from the penalty spot that earned the team a goal. Madrid’s Cheryshev sealed the full time result with one more goal in the second half.

China will play host to Real Madrid, AC Milan and FC Internazionale with the round robin tournament commencing on Saturday July 25th. In addition to the China and Australia, the 2015 ICC North America Cup will include Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, PSG, SL Benfica, ACF Fiorentina, Club América, the LA Galaxy, the New York Red Bulls, and the San Jose Earthquakes all across 11 cities.
