According to Wikipedia, the fast food dish, fish and chips, originated from the United Kingdom.

It is said that Jewish refugees who came to settle in the UK, had tried to recreate their native Pescado Frito, introduced fried fish to the world in the 16th century.

It was only after the increased growth in the trawl fishing industry and the ease of the distribution of fish amongst the masses in the 19th century that fried fish and chips took off.

Here’s how you can make your very own fish and chips.

Ingredients:

*3/4 cup flour
*2 tbsps corn starch
*1/4 tsp baking soda
*1/4 tsp baking powder
*1/4 tsp salt or onion soup powder if you want to make it a little different
*3/4 cup water
*4 Cod fillets
* Oil for Frying

Method:

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Add water (ensure the water is very cold).
  3. Dip the cod fillet in the batter and ensure the oil is hot before frying.
  4. Serve with Salad and Chips

Serves two.
