Landowner Beneficiary Identification for PNG LNG Project Resumes

The National Government has announced the recommencement of Landowner Beneficiary Identification for the PNG LNG Project.

This exercise, formerly known as Clan Vetting, had been on hold for numerous reasons since 2015.

According to Petroleum Minister, Dr Fabian Pok, the government is hopeful of completing the deification of landowners by Christmas.

The exercise will now be undertaken by a high-level multi-stakeholder team consisting of the Petroleum Department and Other Government Agencies.

Minister Pok will be leading the High-Level team, which aims to complete this exercise by Christmas. This exercise has been allocated K3 Million.

According to MRDC, the process of finally paying royalties to project beneficiaries along the pipeline and upstream should be processed within three months of the completion of landowner identification.

Officials from the Department of Petroleum are already on the ground, and will be coordinating the exercise in the coming weeks.
