Lupari: Funding Not An Issue For 2017 National Elections

Chairman of the Inter-Departmental Election Committee Isaac Lupari saidfunding will not be an issue for the 2017 National Elections.

Lupari said the Government allocated K400 million of which K121 million budgeted for the Security Operations while the remaining balance for the Election Operations.

“Funding for the Elections has decreased unlike the past, however we have come -up with a strategic plan to use the money wisely and carryout a successful elections this year”, said Lupari.

Speaking during the Highlands Region visit by the IDEC Team, Lupari was confident funding will not be an issue.

He said the current economic state of the country is unhelpful however the budget of K400 million is a lot if stakeholders work together.

“I see no problem with funding. We want to implement the Election in a more cost effective way,” said Lupari.

“We will try to save some money if we can,” he added.

The Chairman of IDEC says this election will be different.

“It’s a whole Government approach in making sure the Election process is completed successfully,

“The IDEC Team is closely consulting every stakeholder in the business of running the Elections”, said Lupari.
