Netball PNG is currently hosting a week-long training program for netball trainers and umpires for capacity building.

A first for Netball PNG, this program has a participation of 30 trainers.

The “Train-of-Trainees” program is conducted by technical experts from New Zealand. They are Pamela Clayton, an Umpire Trainer, and Adrienne Morrin, a Coach Trainer.

According to NPNG, this is a milestone achievement for them, as it will enable them to identify, assess and accredit coach and umpire trainers who will deliver capacity building programs, to the rest of the netball fraternity over the course of the next twelve months.

Through this program, they will also be able to develop and establish its Umpire and Coaching Accreditation Framework, which will be used for all accreditation pathways for netball in the country.

The program is supported by Newcrest Mining, Oceania Football, Netball New Zealand and Water PNG.

Meanwhile, a second training is expected to roll out during the Newcrest National Championships on September 17 – 23, 2018.

NPNG aims to accredit and certify over 300 coaches by next year.
