New Machines for Kabwum to Deliver New Roads

By Julie Badui Owa – EMTV News, Lae

Kabwum Development Authority today (Jul 9) purchased two new machines to build new roads in the District to a cost of almost five hundred thousand kina.

The machines will be based at Deyamos Local Level Government. An Engineer has been assigned to oversee the road construction.

These machines will be used to build a new 18 Km road in Deyamos LLG. The machines will also be used to maintain and reconstruct the roads that were abandoned for over 40 years.

Member for Kabwum and Minister for Fisheries Patrick Basa said the district will focus on roads in order for people to access basic government services.

The lack of roads has always been a concern for the people of Morobe. Many still cannot access government services due to poor road conditions in the districts.

Whilst Kabwum has three LLGs and is only accessible by plane, its MP says the District will allocate machines to each LLG to link new roads in the district.

The two new machines for Deyamos LLG were bought to a cost of almost five hundred thousand kina from an allocation of K1. 2 million of DSIP funds.

The district will buy another machine for Komba LLG when it receives the next payment of its DSIP.
