Yama Explains Move to Join Government

Madang Governor, Peter Yama, said his move to join the government is because the constitution allows the party with the highest number to form the government.

Yama said therefore, since he was declared at the 11th hour and was the last to go to parliament, the government had already been formed and they had the numbers.

His decision is for the betterment for Madang province to receive the kind of support it needs.

Mr Yama, today held a public gathering at the PLP oval in Madang town to acknowledge the people for electing him as their governor.

He also took the opportunity to explain to his people why he chose to be with the government and not the opposition.

Yama’s explanation comes after numerous complains raised by the people of Madang over his decision to join the government.

He said he could not join the opposition and let his province suffer.

Adding that the most senior statesman like Sir Julias Chan are on the government side.

However, his move to the government will not stop him from speaking up against what he thinks is wrong and not in the best interest of the people.

Meanwhile, a swearing in ceremony for the governor -elect this morning at 10am was postponed to next Tuesday.

Acting Assembly clerk Rachael Bultin when asked to comment why the swearing in was postponed referred us to the provincial administrator.

Do you really have to join the Government for the betterment of Madang Province? What difference does it make if you in the Opposition?

Very shallow explanations to the people of Madang province. You’re as good as corruption .You should not be the governor of Madang, there are much better people than you. You have shown that you love corruption to join the corrupt government. This is against the wish of people of Madang and Papua New Guinea.
