No liquor ban as residents urged to celebrate responsibly

Lae Police will be carrying out special operations this independence weekend to ensure celebrations are kept peaceful.

Lae Metropolitan Commander, Anthony Wagambie, said police will be present at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium tomorrow where the city’s main celebrations will be held.

Mr. Wagambie said liquor the ban will not be imposed this weekend and is urging residents to celebrate responsibly.

Any person found drunk and disorderly in public will be arrested and detained.

Roadblocks will also be set up various locations in the city.
