Numu vows to get EHP in order for people to benefit

Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu is urging his fellow EHP leaders to unite and move the province forward.

He says corruption has crippled the public service, and people are suffering.

“I will make sure the EHP PEC establishes a Commission of Inquiry to check all operating accounts before any funding is sourced or the provincial budget is drafted,” said Governor Numu.

Mr. Numu said one of his priorities is to appoint a permanent Provincial Administrator. Mr. Numu said this had been a struggle under the previous leadership of Governor, Julie Soso.

The new Eastern Highlands Governor said despite different political affiliations, elected Eastern Highlands MPs must work together for the good of the people.

Governor Numu said people have suffered enough from dirty politics played in the past term of Government.

The Governor said all districts will review their development plans, so public services are aligned. So far, Mr. Numu is the youngest serving Governor in Eastern Highlands’ political history.

Eastern Highlands province has a population of close to 450,000 people. The province has 8 districts and shares borders with Madang, Simbu, Morobe and Gulf provinces.
