Partial Betel-Nut Ban for Port Moresby’s Boroko Area

NCD City Authorities have put a partial ban on the sale of betel-nut in Port Moresby’s Boroko Area.

City Manager Bernard Kipit says the ban will also cover other illegal activities like street selling and littering.

He says the ban is part of a major legislation to make all major centres of the City safe, clean and organized. He says Boroko is now the first to be targeted for enforcement.

The recently appointed City Hall Manager urged City Residents and all to understand why the ban is being imposed.

He says Port Moresby is a City and its status must be of standard.

Police will be assisting City authorities to enforce the partial ban.

NCD Met Sup Perou Ndranou says the force will be at the forefront to enforce the ban. Arrests will be made to those who ignore the ban.

Similar betel-nut ban will be imposed on the major centres of the City.
