Patients Seeking Treatment At Angau Get New Facilities

Patients seeking treatment at Angau hospital have been given new scanners that will benefit an estimated population, over 600, 000 people in Morobe Province, including referrals from ther provinces.

 

Hospital CEO Dr. Polapoi Chalau saysthe scanning and an x-ray machines cost over two million kina will speed up diagnosis leading into earlier patient treatment and recovery.

“We will buildthe equipment’s to help supportthe level of treatment that we want to give out,” he said.
 

 Angau’s management has been under criticism overthe hospitals running and development.

 

Two weeks ago, after Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s one-day visit tothe Angau Hospital, he revealed that he was dissatisflied withthe hospital’s management.

 

“The type of management is unacceptable we will intervene directly,” said O’Neill.
 

Late yesterday,the hospital management reopenedthe refurbished accident and emergency wards.

 

Beard chairman Benson Nablu says proper channels were used to get approval fromthe National Executive Council to use funds to refurbishthe facilities.

 

“We got approval just last week…we will reviewthe entire Angau rehabilitation …including building staff accommodation,” he said.
