Kokoda Boxing Challenge to Showcase PNG Boxers Ahead of Commonwealth Games

Lamana Gold Club, come 10th of May, will showcase some of the best boxers of in the Commonwealth countries, including PNG, Fiji and Australia in the Kokoda Boxing Challenge as part of a Commonwealth Games Trial, in Port Moresby.

PNG will be represented by a female and four male boxers in this event.

President of PNG Boxing Union John Avira says at the moment all five boxers are currently in Philippines, undergoing training.

He says, while they are looking forward to the Kokoda Challenge, another training program will also be organised for them just before the Commonwealth Games in Canberra.

2015 Pacific Games Gold Medalist, Debbie Kaure will not be participating in boxing at the Commonwealth Games, but in Rugby Union.

Avira says he is confident and happy with the final selection.
