Intercontinental Cup: PNG Vs Netherlands

Netherlands will strive to take the home advantage against debutant Papua New Guinea Barramundis in the four-day first-class Intercontinental Cup, in match which has just kicked off in Amsterdam.

This will be the final match of the first round, which earlier saw Namibia defeat Hong Kong and Ireland earn 20 points against the United Arab Emirates.

The match between former champions Scotland and Afghanistan was played under poor weather conditions.

The ICC intercontinental cup is the path way to Test Cricket, today’s match will mark the Netherlands 7th appearance in the Intercontinental Cup.

For PNG, today marks the latest exciting chapter in PNG cricket history as they play their inaugural Intercontinental Cup match.

Looking ahead to the historical ties between Netherlands and PNG, the Dutch have been looking forward to hosting PNG for the first time.

The Barramundis are a talented side, led by Captain, Jack Vare, who is going up against an experienced Netherlands side in the likes of Wesley Baressi and Rahil Ahmed who will sure bring entertainment to the crowd.

This is a great year for the Barramundis, and players in the countries first-ever Intercontinental Cup will be looking forward to the experience.

Ireland is in first place on 20 points followed by Namibia and Scotland, PNG’s four day match against Netherlands will declare their standing on the Ladder.
