Port Moresby PMV Bus Operators go on strike over death of crew

PMV operators in Port Moresby will go on strike, if the police hierarchy fails to respond to their petition over the death of a bus crew member.

Bus operators are questioning the conduct of police officers who brutally attacked a bus 13 crew member, resulting in his death yesterday. Bus operators are planning to go on strike for two weeks.

A spokesperson told EMTV News, service operators will take a tough stand following the death of the bus driver.

“We want police to tell us who got involved, and what reasons of attacking the bus driver leading to his death”, said Paul Kum, a bus operator.

Over 50 PMV operators met this morning, and will petition the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary over the death of their colleague.

This is not the first time members of the police have harassed, and attacked PMV crews.
