Priorities Fully Discharged

Secretary Ngangan has announced that funds for all government priorities for 2015 have been remitted and education remains a top priority for the government.

Despite the revenue constraints, Dr Ngangan said they managed to pay in full, 2015 priorities.

“TFF, Tuition Fee Free funds has been discharged in full, special intervention programs, DSIP and PSIP have been discharged in full, so all the government priorities for 2015 have been discharged in full.”

With the TFF funding for this year, the finance officers said they expect the 2015 funding to assist schools to open the new year; however it still remains a priority for this year.

“Now this week, next week we will be working closely with Treasury to issue first lot of warrants for the first term TFF to go out soon.”

Dr Ngangan said the first quarter TFF funds amounts to around K150 million kina for this year.

This will be welcome news for schools throughout the country which have faced funding shortage during the 2015 academic year.

Last year a total of K650 million was budgeted for TFF.
