Professor Stephen Bird to Observe Talent Identification Program

Professor Bird’s presence in the country tomorrow will be to look at, and observe how PNG High Performance is running its Talent Identification Program in the country.

Part of his observation will be to identify the standards used.

A research student from James Cook University, Kieran Sciberras, who is in charge of the Talent ID Program said, it has been running well, with students and information collected have been very helpful for the research.

He said, the idea behind the research is to find raw talent around the country, so that accurate measure can be taken in order to identify talent. Researching rural areas of the country will be a major target, said Kierran, as more talent seem to come from rural areas.

He added that this year’s PNG Games in Kimbe will be an ideal event for the research, as talents will come in their numbers, a perfect place to identify future representative of PNG in the sporting arena.
