A Papua New Guinean Catholic Missionary, Brother Patrick Bokorum, from East Sepik Province has joined the campaign by Catholic Institutions on the urgent need to stop all new fossil fuel infrastructures on carbon emissions.

Brother Patrick is supporting the Presentation Society of Australia and Papua New Guinea on their commitment to divest investments at the expense of environment, human rights, public safety and local communities.

Brother Patrick says that political involvement has sparked some of decisions that have not been in the best interest of people the citizens of the country and also the environment.

He says young people must be educated to take the lead on healing and care of the planet Earth.

“There is a lot of political involvement. If we have political involvement in our youth of this time, there is no brighter future.”

“We should educate our people on the existing laws,” he said.
