Ipatas Calls For More Relief for Frost Affected Provinces

Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, has asked the national government to quickly release relief assistance to frost affected provinces.

Governor Ipatas said the frost has affected all six districts in Enga Province and added “we have never experienced such frost for the past three decades.”

Governor Ipatas said development agendas should be pushed aside to cater for relief supplies.

“Government must prioritise disaster efforts over planned projects,” the Governor said.

Ipatas wants a coordinated effort between the national and provincial disaster offices to see the smooth flow of relief, and strongly expressed the need for schools to be given priority in order to keep students in classes. 

Governor Ipatas said health facilities will also be given similar consideration.

Meanhwile, the Enga Provincial Administration is collecting data for the affected frost areas to be presented to the national government.

The Enga Governor called on all local MPs of Enga to work togther to assist in the affected areas in the province.
