By Staycey Yalo, EMTV News, Port Moresby

Families and Communities today continued to celebrate this Christmas season through sports.

Tatana village, home of PNG Hunter’s star, Kato Ottio, gathered together on Boxing Day to challenge each other in different sports.

Ottio said it is part of their community’s annual Christmas celebration activities aimed at bringing families together to have fun, and keep the youth out of trouble.

Every year, during the festive season, families at Tatana village, come together to commemorate Christmas through the spirit of dining together, exchanging gifts, and sports.

PNG Rugby League World Cup Star, Kato Ottio, who recently signed with English Super League outfit, Widnes Vikings, was at his home village, participating in the organised activity.

Kato, who comes from a mixture of Tatana, Koiari and AROB, said the event is an annual one.

The actual celebrations began yesterday after the children of the village cooked for their elders. Today’s games continued from yesterday’s feast and gift exchanges.

The games will pick up again towards the new year where this time, the elders will cook for the children.
