The Informal Senior Officials Meeting of APEC 2018 began today.
In celebration of PNG taking the chairmanship of APEC and to mark the occasion the United Nation Development Programme has partnered with Post PNG to prepare a Series of collector stamps.
The stamps are also designed to illustrate major factors of the Sustainable Development Goals.People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership have been designed into the stamps.
UNDP resident coordinator Roy Trivedy said the stamps are the first in the world to incorporate the SDG goals, and the stamps try to show PNG position as an emerging global leader on the theme of sustainability.
Mr Trivedy thanked PNG Post for taking up the challenge that will have benefits for PNG post during APEC, as the stamps were on sale today at this lead-up to APEC 2018.
The first stamps that were officially launched today will be posted to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and the APEC Secretariat.
There are nine stamps in total. The stamps all have a different value from 75 toea, K1.50, K3.40 and K6.80 values, and there are two framed souvenir sets with a nominal value of K20.
