State of Applications to Join Police Force Unknown

By Theckla Gunga – EMTV News, Port Moresby

A group of men who had applied to join the Police Force are asking those in charge of the recruitment to advise them on their applications.

They had applied in 2017 but their applications were terminated because the recruitment process was suspended by the police hierarchy.

This morning, they visited the Police Headquarters at Konedobu but did not receive a favourable response.

An estimated 300 were affected.

They told EMTV News, they want the police hierarchy to tell them the state of their applications.

In January 2017, the management of RPNGC suspended the police recruitment.

This was because of an increase in numerous public complaints and concerns of bias and nepotism.

The suspension then had meant those selected for further interviews and other formalities will remain pending until further notice.

A review on the recruitment process was conducted and the suspension was uplifted.

However, those who had applied from NCD claims, none of them were selected.

Those who were recruited after the suspension will pass out this Friday.

The Police Hierarchy is yet to make a response to this.
