Waigani eviction PM’summons two ministers

The government is expected to come down hard on those behindthe forced eviction of tenants ofthe Waigani Hostel in Port Moresby overthe weekend.

The hostel, owned bythe National Housing Corporation is believed to have been sold out.

Housing Corporation officers, police and security guards went tothe hostel and forced tenants outodespite an announcement earlier bythe Prime Minister against eviction.

Mr. O’Neill returned said he had summoned boththe housing andthe police minister onthe Waigani hostel eviction. Earlier,the Prime Ministerstoppedthe exercise when it was about to take place. However,the instruction was deflied.

Hundreds of tenants were forced out oftheir rooms. Many got out as quickly asthey could in fear of heavy handed action fromthe intimidating officers.
