The 2015 Pacific Games will encourage business, trade, investment and tourism, and will compliment Papua New Guinea’s economy, in 2015.

Minister for Sport and National Events, Justin Tkatchenko confirmed in an interview with EMTV, that the Games had already contracted over 20,000 people.

The 20,000 employees vary from contractors, to committee members, and members of business enterprises involved with the Games.

“We have taken a 360 approach, where the Games will benefit people from the grassroots, right up to the business enterprises.”

Chief Executive Officer of the Games Organising Committee, Peter Stewart, shared similar views with Minister Tkatchenko.

He said, the Games would encourage business, trade, investment and tourism.

“The Games provide an opportunity for development of businesses, harnessing joint ventures between local and international businesses.”

Stewart also said, in terms of promoting Papua New Guinea to a broader market, by the end of the two weeks, and after broadcasting over 1500 hours on the Games alone, the country will have proven their communication infrastructures in place in the country.
