Basketball PNG: Sibona Kala makes a comeback

Another basketball star player in the Men’s basketball team training for the FIBA Melanesian Cup, Sibona Kala, made his comeback to the national side after several years out of the game for five years.

Kala made his debut in the national colours at the 2011 South Pacific Games in New Caledonia at the age of 26 years.

New Caledonia was Kala’s first call up in the senior men’s side, however the lad from Gaire Village in the Central province represented NCD at the Arafura Games earlier.

Kala plays as the shooting guard or number 2 which is usually the best outside shooter of the team.

Kala draws his inspiration from former PNG representatives whom he played alongside in New Caledonia 2011.

The 31-year-old expressed confidence in the team leading up the championship.
