City Pharmacy Lewas Announces Squad

City Pharmacy Lewas have announced a 14 women squad that will be competing in the ICCC East Asia Pacific Qualifiers in Samoa next month.

Competing against them will be host Samoa and Japan in 50 over matches.

The winner from this event will progress to the global qualifier for the ICCC 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup which will be held in England.

It will take place in either late 2016 or early 2017.

The squad selection came after four months of training and CPNG is positive of their progress.

High Performance Manager, Rarua Dikana, says the Lewas are ranked 13th in World and 1st in the Pacific and they have to win all matches to qualify for the global qualifier.

Dikana said, after attending the first Regional qualifier in 2010, the Lewas did not go for the last two qualifiers.

Attending ICCC EAP in Samoa will be their comeback match to the international scene.

Lead by Pauke Siaka, Helen Buruka and Ravini Oa, the squad also has 3 debutants from outside provinces.

Hinamutawa Philip (Milne Bay), Geathie Kilapat (Oro) and Daniella Ila (Morobe) joining eleven players from the NCD.

Senior player, Norma Ovasuro is out on maternity leave.

CPL Project Manager Oti Sarufa, encouraged them to be positive role models as they are ambassadors of PNG.
