Minister Abel Pleased with Progress

By Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Following the OFC’s delegation visit yesterday, Minister for Planning Charles Abel, and Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko, along with PNG Sports Foundation CEO, Peter Tsiamlili Jnr, and Team PNG Chef de Mission Richard Kassman, visited the Sir John Guise stadium.

After a physical tour of the venue with sports minister, Tkatchenko; Abel commended the Sports Ministry for the stage at which they have been able to bring these facilities to; given the time period that they have been allowed to do so.

He also said this is a huge investment that the government is making, and the onus now lay on them, to remain committed and get it over the line, for the benefit of the games, and the future of sports.

Sports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko remains confident that all works should be completed in time for the games. He has described the progress of construction as “a miracle”, saying that at one stage of the developments, work was behind schedule, by two years.
