OK Tedi Mining Limited Welcomes 2nd Vessel

Ok Tedi Mining Limited welcomed the arrival of a new shipping vessel in Kiunga, Western Province this week.

The vessel, MV Fly Prosperity, is the second of the 4 new vessels, 2 of which are yet to arrive in the country.

The new vessel was officially welcomed at the Kiunga wharf in a small ceremony.

The first vessel was MV Fly Alliance, which arrived in Kiunga last August.

The container ship is over 91 metres long, with a draft of 4 meters.

It cost over K19 million Singaporean dollars, and was constructed in the Philippines, and later moved to Singapore for completion.

During the welcome ceremony, OTML managing director, Nigel Parker, asked his staff to continue work in unity with the management.

He said he is working on building a stronger fleet for the company.

The container ship will carry ore and bulk fuel.

It has 2 cargo holds, and 7 cargo oil tanks.

The staffs were later given a tour in and around the ship before witnessing the first copper concentrate being loaded into the cargo hold.

MV Fly Prosperity is powered by 2 main engines, each producing 1650 horse power.
