Suspects in policy custody for Manus Murder

Four men in Manus are in police custody as suspects to a murder case.

These men are being investigated for the death of 33-year-old Thomas Soongkombek, from Ndrehet Village in Lorengau.

Manus Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu, said the death is a result of a fight that broke out between two parties over disputed land.

Police alleged that a piece of timber was used to hit the deceased on the forehead which resulted in a fractured skull to cause his death.

The body of the deceased is now at the Lorengau General Hospital Morgue where an autopsy will be conducted.

PPC Yapu said the situation on Manus Island is quite but tensed and police are monitoring it.
